We are a non-profit group of professional, independent wedding planners who strive to educate, advance, and promote the Austin wedding and events industry and it’s network of professionals. We believe that “a rising tide lifts all boats” and therefore strive to raise standards and practices for Austin’s vendors and planners. We welcome all levels of professional planners and backgrounds who want to achieve success in the industry, support colleagues along the way and create high standards for the events industry as a whole.

How is AWPA different from other event industry groups?
AWPA is unique in that we’re a local group of wedding planners collaborating to improve the standard of weddings in Austin. We’re not a networking group or a certification program, we’re planners who get together each month to empower each other as we discuss ways to improve our industry. The education and networking that naturally happen are just bonus perks!
What are the requirements to join?
Applicants must complete the membership application, provide proof of business liability insurance with at least $1 million in coverage, submit wedding planning documentation demonstrating their experience, and pay a $35 non-refundable application fee. Applications are reviewed and verified by the AWPA Membership Chair and Board of Directors. Upon approval, applicants may become members by paying the annual membership fee of $200.
Can non-wedding planners join?
While membership is reserved for wedding planners, we do offer to the opportunity to be part of our Preferred Vendors community. These are the vendors who demonstrate exemplary ethics and advocate for the value of a qualified wedding planner, vendors who fulfill their contracts and go above and beyond. These are the vendors who are a joy to work with and who we don't hesitate to recommend to our clients and colleagues. To honor these vendors, we invite them exclusively to our quarterly Vendor Mixers so that our fellow AWPA members can get to know them in a vetted networking environment, void of pay to play.
